Science is Essential
Science is the foundation of the Meridian Method. Ancient research and science provided us with a basic knowledge of the meridian system, and modern science provides us with new insights and tools to further our understanding. We have always tried to take a scientific approach to learning more about the meridian system. Unfortunately, modern research has been somewhat hard to find until now.
Western civilization stopped studying meridian medicine when it began to explore the tangible aspects of anatomy through the microscope, surgery and single variable scientific testing. While this knowledge has led to phenomenal mechanical and chemical discoveries, it mostly ignores systems it cannot see through technology. However, just because we can’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. This is much like Einstein’s theory of the electron in 1905, he couldn’t see it, but he could see the results of its activity.
Fortunately for us, new technology allows us to measure the effects of the meridian system. There is a renewed interest in the meridian system and the tools that help us understand it. These advancements in science have allowed us to research and develop the Meridian Method.

Research and Development
We wondered if we could find a way to support meridian function for the purpose of enhancing healing, repair and well-being. The body cannot heal without their force. We decided that essential oils would be one of best ways to do this because they are easily absorbed by the body.
Although we searched intensively, there was very little information available on the method we wanted to explore. We found out that researching the meridian system is somewhat challenging because it can’t be easily detected. Likewise, many researchers ignore essential oils, because their effects are not as easily measured as other substances. However, we knew that our theories could be researched with the right tools.
Since our approach was unique, we decided to do our own research. It was not an easy task. There were significant highs and lows throughout our testing and development. We want to share the results of our most significant studies here. Don’t worry if some of the vocabulary is unfamiliar and intimidating, we had to learn a lot, too.
Orion EAV Liver Study
We wanted to find a way to determine the effectiveness of Meridian Oils on the body. Using an older technology, the Orion EAV machine, we tested 50 people in two different states of varying ages, gender and race. We found that the applications of the oils produced an improved score of four points or better 84% of the time. We tested “apples to apples” in this study meaning we applied the Liver Meridian Oil to a weakened liver meridian. We determined that this ratio was sufficiently successful to proceed with our research.

Zyto Gallbladder Study
With the advent of more sophisticated technology, we were able to further test our theories. We began using a more modern state-of-the-art bio-communication machine called the Zyto. It allowed us to measure how much the application of Meridian Oils actually affected the meridians of study participants.Through our testing we discovered that certain symptoms required focusing on a less obvious meridian. In these tests, it meant that we needed to focus on the gallbladder to correct liver issues. This is just one example, of the sometimes complex meridian relationships. The key is finding the weakened meridian, treating it, and allowing the system to fix itself.
As we tested subjects using the Zyto, we found that the Meridian Oils were effective 95% of the time. In other words, the meridian oils were able to bring a meridian into balance 95% of the time. We were thrilled with the results and we felt a strong motivation to proceed with our research.
Independent QRA Study
We wanted an outside opinion to verify our research, so we enlisted the assistance of a colleague from a lab in Austin, Texas. Our colleague conducted informal tests, mostly using a system called QRA testing. While it appeared the oils were sturdy in their construction and could hold energy on their own; he found that their ability to sustain meridian support when applied varied from two minutes to several hours. This was somewhat discouraging as two minutes was not good enough for us and we seriously considered abandoning the entire project.

Zyto Meridian Support Study
Six months after the independent QRA study we decided to try a different type of study. We used the Zyto to measure the meridians, the central vessel and the governing vessel in 12 subjects. We then applied Meridian Oils until at least 80% of the meridians indicated balance with their use. (We used no more than four oil synergies.) Blood test research has indicated that traces of applied essential oils can still be found in the blood after four hours, so we re-tested the subject four hours later to see if the meridians still maintained support. Amazingly, 9 out of 10 times they did!
The Next Step
We are very satisfied with our research so far. We intend to keep learning more about the meridian system and how we can support it with essential oils. In many ways, our studies are on-going; As technology advances, we hope to discover even more about the meridian system.
